Abstract

The phenomenon of poverty is a multifaceted and complex problem that cannot be easily provided with a solution or even defined or measured. Despite the remarkable human progress in various fields, there are still more than 600 million people in the world who are struggling with the shortage of adequate food. The issue of poverty, along with the crisis of climate change, is one of the most prevalent issues facing human beings today, and its effects are becoming more tangible on a daily basis. Despite much research on the devastating effects of poverty, many thinkers still consider it as a marginal issue and even believe that helping the poor is abortive. In contrast, many theorists, while rejecting their arguments, emphasize the importance and necessity of helping the poor and eradicating poverty in the world. Therefore, this descriptive and analytical research, while examining the issue of poverty and its destructive dimensions, expresses the views of ethic philosophers in the fields of utilitarianism and conscientiousness. Moreover, an attempt is made to criticize each of them as far as possible. Finally, considering all the views expressed, it seems that helping the poor and hungry people in the world is not only necessary, but also a moral duty and obligation in a way that, if ignored, our lives will not be moral whatsoever.

Abstract Persian

پدیدهٔ فقر، معضلی پیچیده است که نه به راحتی می‌توان برای آن راه حلی ارائه کرد و نه حتی آن را تعریف یا اندازه‌گیری کرد. با وجود پیشرفت‌‌های چشم‌گیر بشر در عرصه‌های مختلف، هنوز بیش از ۶۰۰ میلیون نفر در جهان وجود دارند که در تلاش برای به دست آوردن یک وعده ‌غذای کافی هستند. این بحران، همپای بحران تغییرات اقلیمی، از مبتلا‌به ترین مسائلی است که امروزه گریبان بشر را گرفته و روزانه تاثیرات آن ملموس‌تر می‌شود. با وجود تحقیقات بسیاری که بر روی اثرات مخرب فقر شده، اما بسیاری از متفکرین همچنان این مسئله را به عنوان یک مسئلهٔ حاشیه‌ای در نظر گرفته و حتی کمک به فقرا را امری بی ثمر می‌دانند. در مقابل این افراد نظریه پردازان بسیاری ضمن رد استدلال‌های ایشان، به اهمیت و ضرورت کمک به فقرا و ریشه‌کنی فقر در جهان پرداختند. از این رو، ما در این پژوهش با روشی توصیفی و تحلیلی، ضمن بررسی مسئلهٔ فقر و ابعاد ویرانگر آن به بیان نظر فیلسوفان اخلاق در ساحات فایده‌گرایی و وظیفه‌گرایی در این زمینه پرداخته و تا حد توان، انتقاد‌های وارد به هر یک از آن‌ها را مطرح کردیم. در نهایت به این نکته رسیدیم که با توجه به تمام آراء مطرح شده، به نظر می‌رسد کمک به فقرا و گرسنگان جهان، نه تنها ضروری است، بلکه یک وظیفه و الزام اخلاقی است که در صورت بی‌توجهی به آن، زندگی ما هر چه باشد، اخلاقی نخواهد بود.
