Abstract
Academic integrity is one of the important concerns of educational systems. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of moral justification of cheating and belief in cheating in the relationship between spirituality and cheating among students. The method of this research was relational. The research community included the students of University of Zanjan, a sample of 300 of them was selected in the second semester of 2022-2023 academic year. In order to measure the research variables, Parsian and Doninig (2009) and Stephens and Golbaj (2007) academic cheating questionnaires were used. The validity of the research tools was checked and confirmed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Research hypotheses were tested using Pearson's correlation coefficient and path analysis. The path of ethical justification of cheating to perpetration of cheating standard parameter -0.02 and t value equal to -0.47 was not significant. Other Mastim paths became significant. Also, in addition to the direct paths, there was also an indirect path between spirituality and committing fraud with the mediation of belief in fraud, whose error was less than 0.05 and therefore significant. Also, 29% of the variance of academic adjustment is explained by the predictor variables in the model. The results of this research can be used in educational centers with the aim of managing the academic dishonesty of learners.
