The question of responsibility in the age of artificial intelligence has become one of the central issues in the philosophy of technology and applied ethics. The increasing autonomy and complexity of intelligent systems have transformed the relationship between humans and machines, turning the concept of the “responsibility gap” into a major challenge in this field. Adopting an analytical-conceptual approach, this research revisits the theoretical and logical foundations of this concept and demonstrates that the responsibility gap, contrary to common perception, is not a simple and unified phenomenon. Rather, it is the result of conceptual conflation and the formation of three distinct discontinuities: the technical-metaphysical gap, which relates to the issue of agency and control; the organizational-structural gap, which arises from the unfair distribution of responsibility among institutions and individuals; and the epistemic gap, which is associated with the ambiguity and lack of transparency in the processes of learning systems. The research findings indicate that moving beyond the search for a single solution and shifting toward multi-level and integrative approaches is a necessary condition for solving the challenge of responsibility in intelligent systems.
